I have to say Oregon is one of the most gluten free friendly places ever. I travel a ton for work, going out to eat is a very scary thing sometimes. The time it takes to find a place that has options can be hard and annoying for everyone involved.
This place has made it too easy. While in OR, I feel like I've gone to small beach towns and have found the best gluten free meals, without trying or even using my Find Me Gluten Free App.
MOTHER'S BISTRO & BAR - PORTLAND, OR
I borrowed a bike from the River Place hotel and rode down the boardwalk to breakfast. They only had GF Bread, no pancakes or anything - but most of their breakfast options are naturally GF. If you have an egg allergy, this is not the place to have breakfast. I have been experimenting to see if I have an egg allergy - and yep after a few months of not eating it, and indulging in it today. There is some sort of allergy. I get nauseous, like a car sick feeling, but I haven't noticed any other side effects yet. I ordered the Wild Salmon Hash and it was to die for.
LITTLE RIVER CAFE - PORTLAND, OR
Next to the Bean & Tree sits the Little River Cafe, where I picked up this delicious sandwich. Grilled eggplant, peppers, tomatoes and pesto! I have noticed through out this whole trip, that all the restaurants use locally made breads - and not UDI'S, which is awesome, since for some reason Udi's gluten free bread still gets me sick. Does anyone else have that problem?
PIG N' PANCAKES - SEASIDE, OR
We were told that this was a legendary pancake place in Seaside. I have to say they were pretty amazing, they had tons of gluten free options, and when I say tons - I mean PANCAKES, WAFFLES, FRENCH TOAST! They even wiped down the waffle maker before putting my batter in! I ordered the french toast, the bread is made from a local bakery, and a waffle. Service was great, thought the french toast was too, but who knows, it could be my gf taste buds tricking me.
BEAN & TREE COFFEE HOUSE - PORTLAND, OR
This cute little place has teas, coffees, and happy hour! $5 for this bottle of GF Beer! The place is on the boardwalk/walkway right next to the water. Its a great place to sit and relax after a long day of doing whatever you did. Sitting here you can see people having fun on the water with their rented stand up paddle boards, dragon boats and kayaks.
