Our Story

Stephanie Wong, founder of WHOS Gluten Free, loved her food. Her favorite pastime is sharing meals with family and friends. This love has been ingrained in her since a young age, with her large family, and continues on today with gatherings that often bring together family and friends, and some very fun food ideas.  

Around 2008, Steph found out she had Celiac and other food-related allergies and sensitivities. Upon reflection, she realized that her body had been telling her that some foods weren’t agreeing with her even way back in childhood.

After her diagnosis, Steph started to cut grains, sugars, and certain foods out of her diet so that she could feel her best. She began to experiment with different types of recipes to make things taste as delicious with very simple gluten free ingredients.

In 2012, one of Steph’s good friends said, “You know, you should really share your gluten free creations with the rest of the world!” Steph was then determined to get a clean, safe, high quality, nutritious product out to folks with similar food allergies, and those who were conscious about what they were eating in general. She began to test new recipes, taste tests with friends, come up with fun names for products, and poured her heart and soul into making this dream a reality. 

In 2013, after carefully crafting high-quality recipes to bring to the world, she was ready to launch WHOS GLUTEN FREE and thus began her journey. After 5 years of offering her products in local farmers markets and other proprietors, she quit her full-time job in 2018 to go all in on the business. The first WHOS Gluten Free storefront then opened to the public in Jersey City, offering brunch and a full variety of gluten free treats.
